How it plays
Patta Party rules
Teams sit alternately. Every second seat is your partner.
Decks. 4 players: one deck. 6 players: two decks without 2s, 3s, 4s and both 5♦ (78 cards). 8 players: two decks.
Three deals. 5 cards, then 4, then 4. Everyone ends with 13, so every hand has 13 tricks.
Bidding after each deal starts left of the dealer. Bid 6 to 13 or pass. Each bid must beat the highest so far. In round 1 the highest possible bid is 7. A bid of 6 must still take 7 tricks, but scores 6 points. A player who passed can bid again next round. If you bid and someone else raises in the same round, you get another chance to raise.
If everyone passes in round 1, the first player dealt is forced to bid 6.
Trump. After round 1 the highest bidder calls trump. In rounds 2 and 3 trump is called again only if someone raises the bid. No raise means trump stays.
Play. The final highest bidder leads. Follow the led suit if you can. If you can't, play any card, trump or not.
Highest trump wins the trick, otherwise highest card of the led suit. With two decks, if two identical cards fall, the one played last wins.
The hand stops as soon as the result is decided.
Joker mode
One joker per deck. To keep 13 cards each: 4 players drop the 2♣, 6 players drop one 5 of each suit, 8 players drop both 2♣.
You can play a joker only when you can't follow suit. You can never lead with one.
A joker reverses the trick: it goes to the other team from whoever would have won, trump cuts included. The joker player leads next.
Two jokers in one trick cancel out: the highest card takes the trick, but the player who played the second joker leads next.
If you must lead and hold only jokers, you're stuck. The other team takes one trick per joker you hold.
Bidding team makes the bid (bid 6 needs 7 tricks)
bid
Makes it before opponents win a trick
2× bid
Bidding team fails
2× to opponents
Opponents break it before bidding team wins a trick
4× to opponents
One running score. Points cancel the other team's lead. A team that leads by 52 wins straight away. Otherwise, when the hand limit is reached (6 hands for Quick, 10 for Normal), the team ahead wins. If the score is level, one decider hand is played. Full games have no hand limit. After each hand, the final bidder decides the next dealer. If they are on the team behind, they deal. If they are on the team ahead, they bid first.
